He is a Rim-Rocker!

Saturday was the big day for Kip.  Rim Rock Marathon Day.  26.2 miles, about 1 billion feet in elevation (actually up 2100 feet, then down 2400 ft, but that's close to 1 billion), around 240 runners.  WOW.  You can see some beautiful pictures of the venue at Darcy's blog -   her husband ran in it too, way to go Darrin!
The average marathon time is about 4 1/2 hours.  Kip came in - well under his goal - at 3 hours 49 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Holy COW.  He's a stud.  The end.

DONE!

Okay, not really the end.  Kip (and Caleb!) were even on the news - you can watch the clip that aired on channel 11 news.  Woo hoo!

Here are dad's cheerleaders!  We made matching shirts while he was gone hunting and proudly wore them to cheer for him.  It was a little chilly, but hats and jackets came off after a while because it wasn't too bad if you were running around.  Go Dad Go!

Here are some of the Fruita Runners (Frunners) after the race, enjoying the free sandwiches and chips.  It's the least the race organizers can do with that giant entry fee, right?  Everyone is happy to be done!

And I snapped this picture with Kip in the foreground just to get a shot of the Colorado National Monument - that giant land formation in the background is what they ran up and over.  (Darcy's pics are way more awesome).

Good job Kip, you stud.  What an accomplishment, running a marathon.  I don't think that another marathon is out of the question, but I'm not asking about that yet.  Everyone was talking about how running the marathon is sort of like giving birth...the preparation, the special clothing and nutrition, the pain, the endurance, the relief, and the thought that maybe, someday, in the far future, another one might be possible...

So we'll save that conversation for another day.  For now, let's eat some ice cream and chill on the couch.  Good work, babe.
