We started off the year right! Caleb and Ella both received an opportunity for Christmas - to go to the Downtown Aquarium for a day and see what it was like to work there with the animals. January 2 was their big day!
We drove to Denver straight from Silverthorne after spending the New Year holiday with Kip at his condo. We got there just in time! They each joined a group of similar age kids and then spent the day seeing what it takes to run the aquarium; making "meatballs" and other mealtime treats for the animals, learning about how training animals works, even dissecting stuff.
They both had a great time, although they decided that the work that goes on there is disgusting. Haha! I guess that even if they did not find their life calling, at least they are now able to eliminate some things. Or maybe as they get older they will decide it's not so gross after all... anyway I was really pleased with the program, and thought it was a great way to give them a Christmas gift that was not just another toy. Yay for the Aquarium!
