Lucky little lady turns 7!

Rachel got a fun surprise for her birthday this year - her charter school declared her birthday a "dress down" day (as a reward for successful testing in older grades) so she didn't have to wear a uniform on her special day! So her fashion choice was a lovely lime green shirt with a tulle shamrock; rainbow star leggings, and her favorite boots.  Tres chic!

 

After school, she changed into a much fancier (but still green) dress, ready to party! I went all out and purchased frozen chocolate eclairs (so fancy) and we had a nice little family party at home.  We're trying to adopt an idea that larger friend parties will be reserved for even birthday years, while smaller family celebrations will happen on odd birthday years.  So, no friend party for Rachel this year but I am pretty sure we managed to help her feel like the MOST specialist 7 year old on the planet.

 

 When your front teeth have not quite grown in yet, how do you eat an eclair?  Just gnaw from the side, easy peasy.

Rachel is spunky and energetic!  She talks and asks questions at a rate of about a million words a minute, so sometimes we have to get her to slow down and breathe, lol!  She is very witty and smart, remembering names and comments and parts of movies or songs quite often.  She loves having her hair short because it is much easier to brush.  She loves playing imaginary games with her sisters (most often McKinley, her little sidekick.)  She loves pink things, kittens, dolls, art, writing, reading, rice, peanut butter, almost all treats, and ballet - she wants to be a ballet teacher when she grows up.  Her favorite part of school is usually recess, and while she likes her school, she is excited to join Caleb and Ella at Orchard Options next year.  We love having Rachel in our family - she is a gem!!  Happy Birthday!
