Spring Break at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Over spring break we drove down to Pueblo to visit our friends the Jacksons - including Ella's kindergarten BFF Bella.  It was fun, and we had the chance to do something that we have been wanting to do since we moved here - visit Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  :) It is so cool - built right into the side of a mountain so you are essentially hiking up the side of the mountain to see each of the exhibits.  First off: giraffes at eye level that you can feed lettuce!

 

 

 Careful - they eats maps too!  Or anything else at their mouth level!  Including the metal boxes!

McKinley had a good time communing with the great apes.  This big guy would kiss the glass if the kids put their hands up.  It was pretty fun to watch! (McKinley is on the right.)

Driving south for the day, we managed to miss a massive snowstorm up north that shut the entire city down - just as well that we were gone since we didn't fare so well with the last major snow storm (totaled car in December, booooo).

But down in Pueblo - it was cold and windy, but we still managed to get in a walk on the river trail and a stop at a pizza place.  It was a nice break from our regularly scheduled programming!
