"Fair" is where you get cotton candy

That has been a favorite response of mine when kids complain about things not being "fair" -

Life is not fair.  Fair is where you get cotton candy.
Or....FUNNEL CAKE!  WOOT!
It was fair time around here and we made a point to hit both the Teton County Fair in Jackson and the Lincoln County Fair in Afton.  Double the fun!
Teton was first, and we went there specifically to see some sort of Ninja Warrior course that they were setting up for the public to try.
Surprise #1 - the fair was free to enter, no tickets required to get it.  Sweet!
Surprise #2 - not too busy, either!  Probably because we were there in the middle of the day and not at night.
We spent the most time at a little petting zoo feeding goats and sheep and pigs and more.

We did see the ninja course, but it was a little disappointing, it looked smaller than the one on TV and it was really geared towards adults - kids couldn't reach/complete most of the obstacles.  Too bad!  But we had fun watching other people try.
Then this week we headed south to Lincoln County - and toured a school bus, watched a hypnotist, petted sting rays, and partied at the midway until we had headaches. :)  McKinley at the forest ranger tent:

 Himalya = reliving my childhood, and getting a serious neck cramp!

And...FUNNEL CAKE!  While we watched the Free Reigning in the arena.

 And...McKinley lost her second tooth eating her apple at the fair!  Luckily she caught it and was able to leave it for the tooth fairy.

And...Caleb was able to play in his first Pokemon tournament, to his absolute delight.  We didn't watch the whole time but he seemed to fit right in, and walked away with new cards and new friends and treats and had a blast.
