mini miracles

Wednesday was a day of mini miracles centered around one event: a flat tire.

Miracle 1: The tire didn't go flat until we were almost home from the doctor, rather than on our way there.
Miracle 2: It went flat by slowly leaking air out rather than blowing up and causing our car to careen out of control on I-70.
Miracle 3: Our friend in the ward owns a tow truck company, and happened to drive by at the EXACT same time. He turned around and hooked me up within minutes of my stopping.
Miracle 4: He had a friend who owns a tire shop that put my spare on for free, so I could drive home and decide with Kip which new tires to get.
Miracle 5: The kids loved every minute of it. How cool to ride down the highway in your car, on top of a tow truck bed?
Miracle 6: The weather was absolutely beautiful. Sunny and "warm." (30 degrees maybe? But not snowing or icy)

Someone was watching our for us that time, and I offered lots of prayers of thanks all day, and still am amazed even now.

It was my turn for pre-school so we all learned about "M" and "manners" and "12" and the words "come" and "down." Next week is the first meeting for parents of fall Kindergartners, I just can't believe it's already starting. I hosted a visiting teaching lunch, watched a friend's baby, made cookies for a funeral (Kip helped set up chairs), and bought a zillion cans of chili because they're on sale for .49 each. Can't beat that! We fed the missionaries, looked around for supplies to build a toy box, and just had a generally good, normal week. Caleb's been a bit on the very-rude side lately, so to get a break I had necklace making enrichment on Thursday, then Saturday and friend called and invited me to a "grand tasting" at the Ritz-Carlton. We rubbed elbows (literally, it was packed) with the rich and not really famous (Ryan and Trista?) and ate fancy looking samples from all over the world while waiters whisked away our plates each time. There was even a chocolate lounge, mmmm. Plenty of wine and alcohol tasting as well, but I stuck with water.

Kip's doing well at work, and at home, and was able to pull out the smoker last Sunday. Our friends caught some fish that they needed smoked, so we had a nice smoked trout and rib feast courtesy of Kip. He listens to conservative talk radio on his drives to and from Aspen, so he's preparing for the world to end as per their predictions. (just kidding - but he has mentioned that he needs to listen to something else now and then because the talk show hosts are a bit repetitive and dramatic).
