Lindsborg or bust! UFF DA!

At the end of our spring break stay-cation with grandma and grandpa, we headed with them to Lindsborg, Kansas, home of the bi-annual "Discover Your Swedish Roots" conference and workshops.  Who knew, right?!  My folks went there for the first time last fall, and this time Ella and I were lucky enough to accompany them this time to learn more about our Swedish ancestors.  Experts in Swedish genealogy help you trace lines back that are difficult to find, and they know how to navigate Swedish records - it was amazing to take a name, do some searching, and all of the sudden be looking at a 150 year old original birth record for that person.  It was awesome! We had some great luck tracking down some long lost family members, it was very exciting.  We ate swedish meatballs, rode around in a bicycle limo, ate hard-boiled eggs the *right* way, and watched mom and dad and Ella dance the night away with traditional Scandinavian dancers. Loved it!

YOU GUYS.  This is the birth record of my great-great-grandmother, born in 1875.  "Hilda Albertina" born June 30, 1875 to Fredrik Johansson (farmhand) and Anna Christina Vestholm.
SO COOL!  My dad, my mom, and I all worked different lines back, and all had success finding people.

Ella climbing around the old mill (used to be water powered) - it still operates once year just for funsies!
 The mill again...

Inside the mill - still shiny and pristine, and very cool.  Lots of pieces to keep in order - this was only one part of one floor!
Ella and me on the back of the bicycle limo!
Grandma and Grandpa were excellent drivers!
 Ella dancing - woohoo!
AND THERE WERE PIPERS IN LINDSBORG!
Grandpa, and Ella in front of the Dala Horse at Hemslojd.
The employee at Hemslojd took a photo of all of us, which was very nice of her, so we forgive her for cutting the dala horse's head out. ;)

And I *must* finish with the postcard that had me laughing so hard I nearly wet my pants.
UFF DA!
