Luckily she did not mind that we spent the whole rest of her birthday driving! We just switched tenants again at our house in Gypsum (the people who were thinking of buying it moved to Texas. Darn!). We needed to do the empty house walk through and give keys to the new people, and pick out new carpet to install. The stars aligned perfectly and the new tenant works for a flooring company, so he was able to arrange everything and all I had to do was swipe the card. Easy peasy. The carpet in there was super cheap back in 2005 when it was installed, and had deteriorated to the point that you could not feel a difference between the carpeted bedrooms and the laminate wood throughout the rest of the house. Doh! But anyway I digress.
So as soon as we picked Rachel up from kindergarten, we got straight on the highway for Gypsum. We spent some time there and then drove home again. The kids - even the birthday girl - were remarkably patient and well behaved, considering we drove over 5 hours between noon and 7 pm.
Rachel wanted spaghetti for dinner, so we ate that and then were able to celebrate with cupcakes and presents. What more does a girl need?!
She had better luck blowing those candles out this year than last year!

A bubble-tastic mermaid Barbie. Yes, I did buy that, even though we already have 436 Barbies. :)
Rachel is smart and spunky. She can remember almost ANYTHING - if we need to recall something; song lyrics, someone's name, a movie we watched - we can ask Rachel and she will remember. She loves kindergarten, dance class (ballet/tap combo), soccer, Barbies and ponies, coloring, writing, playing with Ella and McKinley, riding her bike, climbing our tree, jumping on the tramp, and playing with friends and cousins. She is quick to smile and eager to please (usually, ha!) and likes to help cook and prepare food. She has a contagious laugh and makes us smile all the time. We love you Rachel!
