February 17 marked another (though less important) milestone - one year of doggie companionship! We brought Gordo home on Caleb's birthday last year. It has certainly been a learning experience, mostly learning that we don't really want to nurse another dog through heartworm treatments and the grossness that entails. Now, thought, he is 100% healthy, happy, and cute, and we kind of like him a lot.
We have also learned that he is part beagle - his mannerisms, his personality, his body type, it all matches. We think he must be about 99.5% beagle and about .5% labrador. Haha.
Finally, he earned a nickname this week as we were on a walk...he wants to sniff EVERYTHING. Really, every blade of grass and discolored spot on the sidewalk plus all the normal things. Everything (beagles, doh!). So he tends to pull on the leash pretty much the whole time we're out. The constant pulling makes him breathe really loudly..so, Darth Gordo it is. Ha! The kids have been having fun narrating stories about how is is destroying Rebel bases with his lasers...i.e. peeing on a bush. Nice.
Here, he is suspicious of Dad Mitchell's camera. Very suspicious. :)
He keeps me company while I exercise in the morning:
And still loves playing the sunshine (and eating sticks).
We really like our doggie! Happy doggie-versary to us!
