Insurance deductible has been met!

That's the way we have to look at Mother's Day weekend - at least the insurance deductible has been met, which means everyone else getting sick for the rest of the year is paid for.  Woot!

How, you ask?  

Kip had a red spot on his upper leg.  Fever, chills.  We thought it might be a hernia.

Dr: Nope. Infection.  Take some meds.

Red area grows and grows and grows.

Dr: Go to the ER. 

Us: OK!

ER:  Ooooohh, that is interesting.  Maybe a blood clot.  Nope, not a blood clot.  Just an infection.  Probably staph.  An out-of-control antibiotic resistant infection of unknown origin.

Perfect.  Why don't we just stay here for a few days hooked to an IV with more potent drugs?  We can?  Oh yay! Happy Mother's Day! lol. :)

Ward members and friends rallied around us to help care for kids and allow us to be together at the hospital.  We are so thankful for the good hearts of so many people.  We are also thankful for modern medicine and doctors and nurses.  

And the kids had fun visiting dad and getting rides on his electric bed - almost as fun as the circus!

 

 

Once it looked like the infection was a receding and not growing, he came home and all is well.  Whew!  Enough excitement for me!
